Small plane crashes after taking off at Gonzales airport, registered to Ascension Parish company
GONZALES — A single-engine plane crashed early Tuesday morning shortly after it took off from Louisiana Regional Airport in Gonzales.
According to Gonzales Fire Chief Preston Landry, the Cessna C210, piloted by a 74-year-old Ascension Parish resident, crashed about half a mile from the airport's runway.
FlightAware data shows that the flight took off just before 5 a.m. The flight, the tracking software says, ended less than a minute later.
Landry added that, when crews arrived around 6 a.m., the motor was found about a hundred yards from the plane and the plane itself was upside down in a field. The pilot was walking around and only had minor injuries when authorities arrived, Landry added.
The WBRZ Investigative Unit found that the plane is registered to ACW Inc., a Gonzales company owned by Adrian Waguespack. WBRZ reached out to Waguespack, but has not heard back.
