BATON ROUGE — A student at Istrouma High School is planning a walk in the school's homecoming parade honoring both Ja'Derrius Minnieweather and De'Vonte Coleman.

Minnieweather was reported missing on June 5. Nearly two weeks later, police arrested 51-year-old Maurice Parms and charged him with first-degree murder in connection with Minnieweather's death. Parms is accused of killing Minnieweather and putting his body in a garbage can.

Coleman was killed when 24-year-old Corey Williams accidentally shot him as several people inside a bedroom were modifying a firearm on March 18. He died from his injuries three days later.

The event, organized by Davon Ricks, will see friends and families of both Minniweather and Coleman walk in the homecoming parade on Sept. 26. at Howell Park on Winbourne Avenue at 11 a.m.
