BATON ROUGE — Next Saturday is the home openers for both LSU and Southern football, bringing the return of TAILGATE on 2.

To prepare, BRQ Seafood and Barbeque, the official catering service of LSU Athletics, joined WBRZ to discuss popular tailgate food items. 

BRQ provides all the services clients might need so they can show up and enjoy the tailgate without any worries. 

"We are a Baton Rouge-based company, and we focus on Louisiana food, making sure that our clients are taken care of," BRQ Sales Manager Angel Gaona said.

Gaona said that becoming the official catering service for LSU has changed things at the company. 

"It has definitely given us the opportunity to focus on feeding anybody who's associated with one of the largest names of Louisiana football."

With Saturday being the first game for LSU football under new head coach Lane Kiffin, the company has stayed busy, according to Gaona. 

"We've definitely gotten lots of calls. All last week I was focused mainly on tailgate orders. Everybody getting in those last-minute orders and just getting ready for the season."

Some of the food items BRQ offers include bacon-wrapped shrimp with a pepper jelly glaze, pepper jack-stuffed boudin balls, pulled pork and pulled chicken sliders, chicken pasta, meat pies and cheeseburger sliders.
