BATON ROUGE — A 73-year-old massage therapist has been convicted of indecent behavior with juveniles.

Kevin Brooks was initially arrested in June 2022 on five counts of pornography involving a juvenile, as well as the sexual abuse of an animal.

On Monday, one of the child porn charges and the sexual abuse of an animal charge were dismissed, with the remaining child porn charges amended to two counts of indecent behavior with juveniles and one count of sexual abuse of an animal and possessing pornographic images. 

A 19th JDC judge sentenced Brooks to 25 years in prison for the charges, but had 23 of those years suspended. He was also given credit for time served, court records show. Brooks was also placed on active, supervised probation for a period of five years.

Brooks was also ordered to pay $9,000 in restitution to his victims, register as a sex offender, refrain from using devices connected to the internet, and face restrictions on his capability as a massage therapist, among other restrictions. 

When he was arrested, police said that Brooks was a massage therapist who worked out of his home, and that a contractor said Brooks referenced having a toy chest filled with "trophies" from his favorite clients. The investigators said that after initially finding material on Brooks' computer, they later found 127 photos and 15 videos on his cell phone. They also reported finding 21 images involving animals.
