BAYOU VISTA — Bayou Vista Elementary School was put on lockdown Wednesday afternoon as deputies search for a missing armed robbery suspect, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office said.

SMPSO said two suspects were already in custody as of 2:55 p.m., but a third was still on the run. The sheriff's office described him as a Black male wearing a gray hoodie. SMPSO asks anyone who sees the missing suspect to call 337-828-1960. 

Deputies warned of a large law enforcement presence in the Bayou Vista area and urged residents to stay inside, lock their doors and report any suspicious activities to 911. 

The sheriff's office said all school students were safe and secure.
