BATON ROUGE — Metro Councilman Anthony Kenney Jr. says that a $2.38 million investment is coming to Scotlandville, which he says will reduce flood risk and improve drainage in areas near the Monte Sano Bayou. 

The Monte Sano Bayou Drainage Project will extend between Scotland Avenue and Elm Grove Garden Avenue. Kenney's office says the plans for the project include a detention pond, new drainage piping and cleaning and improvements to existing outfall ditches.

The project will be managed through the East Baton Rouge Parish Department of Transportation and Drainage in coordination with state and local partners.

"This is a major infrastructure investment for the Scotlandville community," Councilman Kenney said. "Residents have experienced street flooding and drainage concerns for years. This project will address those challenges and provide significant benefits for Park Vista and surrounding neighborhoods."

Construction on the project is expected to begin by the end of 2026 and take around a year.
