BATON ROUGE - The LSU Tigers look to bounce back as they host the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Saturday morning in Death Valley.

Mississippi State quarterback Kamario Taylor was ruled out for the matchup, along with starting running back Fluff Bothwell.

LSU head coach Lane Kiffin hammered home the importance of starting fast and finishing drives in the red zone this week, and that is exactly what the Tigers did on their opening possession. Quarterback Sam Leavitt rolled to his right and found wide receiver Eugene Wilson III near the goal line, and Wilson punched it in to give LSU an early 7-0 lead.

The LSU offense quickly got the ball back as Tigers safety Ty Benefield intercepted Mississippi State quarterback Parker Puckett at the LSU 15-yard line.

LSU capitalized on the turnover with an 85-yard drive capped by a 27-yard touchdown pass from Leavitt to wide receiver Jackson Harris, who fought through defenders to find the end zone and extend the Tigers' lead to 14-0.

The first-half scoring continued for LSU as Leavitt found Harris once again, this time for a 17-yard touchdown to extend the Tigers' lead to 21-0 with six minutes remaining before halftime.

Mississippi State's offense showed signs of life late in the first half, driving to the LSU 2-yard line, but the Tigers' defense stood strong, keeping the Bulldogs out of the end zone on four straight plays.
