BATON ROUGE — A 19-year-old is making his way through Baton Rouge as part of a 2,000-mile journey down the Mississippi River.

Ian Aitken started the trip three months ago, paddling from Minnesota. He has been documenting his travels and posting daily updates on Facebook.

Aitken chose the trip over college, hoping to have stories to share with his kids one day. He is already making plans for his next journey, which he says he will announce soon.
